Identify 10 colleges in Jenny Urquhart's wonderful picture of Oxford to win one of 10 signed prints.

Oxford Bikes

Can you identify ten colleges in the picture above? If so, you could win one of ten signed copies of the painting, by Oxford alumni and artist Jenny Urqhuart.

Jenny Urquhart is a Bristol-based artist who specialises in contemporary and colourful images of coastlines and cityscapes. Her background is in science and, after studying Biological Sciences at St Hilda’s College in the 90s, she undertook a 10 year career as a Biology teacher. Jenny started painting in 2010 and due to the popularity of her work she has now given up teaching to paint full-time. Her work now sells in galleries all around the South West of England, as well as online

Jenny fell in love with Oxford as a student, and this summer plans to undertake a series of paintings featuring her favourite Oxford landmarks. Her first painting is entitled ‘Oxford Bikes’, and features many of Oxford’s Colleges and Jenny’s favourite buildings. Talking about her painting, Jenny explained that “Oxford is such a stunning city to both visit and study in! It’s a good mix of old and new and I saw most of it whilst whizzing around on my bike, or trying to row up the rivers. I love the traditional images of Oxford, but I really want to experiment with a more contemporary and vibrant perspective of the city”.

The original of ‘Oxford Bikes’ is for sale from Jenny. Measuring 100cm x 100cm in mixed media on canvas, it is priced at £895. Or, for the chance to win one of ten signed prints of the painting, send your name, college, matriculation year, address and the names of the ten colleges you identify to ot.webeditor@admin.ox.ac.uk with the subject line ‘Oxford Art Competition'. The closing date is May 30th, and we’ll draw the lucky winners out of a hat shortly after.
