As a real-life city Oxford is pleasantly mild-mannered, but in fiction it’s often the setting for mystery and murder. Indeed, the headcount of victims amongst fictional students and academics is worryingly high.
But while Inspector Morse is probably the most famous of Oxford's fictional sleuths to solve such wrongdoings, there’s no shortage of other crime fiction to be based in the city. In fact, there are at least 100 crime novels set in the Oxford — from Dorothy L.
