A Cowley Road Story
Away from the well-beaten tourist trail and famous student haunts, Oxford is home to plenty more than dreaming spires and dusty libraries. In our series, Secret Oxford, we shed light on lesser-known parts of the city that deserve more praise, from intimate college gardens to the best pub snugs in town.
Every month an Oxonian reveals a location particularly dear to their heart, and explains what makes it so special. This month, Tom Skelton (Wadham, 2006), recalls his first visit to the Excelsior Café on Cowley Road. Tom is director of Oxford Imps, Oxford's best-known improvised comedy group, which is associated with the University.
