A festive gallery of the sights of winter as Michaelmas term draws to a close

Celebrations start early at Oxford. Undergraduates finish the Michaelmas term before Christmas gets going in earnest, but they still have the chance to enjoy Oxford's wintery charm.

In college celebrations often include carol concerts, Christmas dinners and decorating the trees, and the annual Winter Lights Festival takes place at the end of November. If they are lucky they might even see snow before they head home.

Very nice, but the Oxford Spelling Dictionary asks us to use 'wintry'.

Happy Christmas.
