The Laboratory with Leaves (Part 10): Small Mammals

The latest episode of Oxford’s ‘Laboratory with Leaves’ explores the remarkably intelligent small mammals living in Wytham Woods.

Modern ecology was founded by Charles Elton in Wytham Woods over 60 years ago, and the science is alive and thriving today. Now with ever more powerful computers we are able to map the complex social networks of wood-mice and even see their individual personalities. Of course, you have to catch the creatures first and apparently peanuts, not cheese, are the way to a mouse’s heart.
